I'm a con staffer for Otakon and Katsucon, yes, I know it is an addiction
and an illness, but, I cannot help myself. I've only been attending cons since
Otakon 2000 as either a gofer or a staff member. I tend to cosplay generic,
or original characters for most of the time but, I have been devolving into
series cosplay characters lately. I generally do not make my costumes, my
best friend, Katie does and I usually do whatever handstiching or little stuff that
needs to be done because I do not know how to work a sewing machine yet.
Planned Conventions

Anime USA
Katsucon 2008
Otakon 2008

Otakon 2000, Anime USA 2000 and Katsucon 2001
Random Anime Cheerleader - Original design (made by Kryssi's grandmother)
Comments: This was actually the first costume I ever cosplayed despite the fact it was just
a random Anime cheerleader character. I gofered for Otakon the first time and the costume
went to Anime USA (gofered)and Katsucon (just a regular member). I'm surprized that I've
been running into various people at cons that recognize me as the Cheerleader chic from O2k.
I didn't think anyone would, but it seems I was wrong. Anime USA is where I became friends
with the folks at Studio Ironcat. The "offical" Ironcat Cheerleader title didn't come until a year
later. I drew the costume and worked with Kryssi on the concept of it for an rpg we were playing and..
geesh.. it was made too small! The shirt was thankfully secured with a hook and eye and
the skirt was a trick to get into. This costume is offically retired.
PGCC Club Fair- Fall 2001; Spring 2002 also Starlight Mini-Con
The Society's Mascot: Kokoro Ein, design by Jon Chin

Comments: Oh boy, we had several costume designs for this but we had to make this from scratch-
no pattern, nada. Just a design, a sewing machine and fabric. This came together rather
easily and turned out very well. This was the first costume that Katie ever made for me
and the beginning of several years of very long nights of cutting and sewing.
Otakon 2001
Shadow Lady from Shadow Lady by Masakazu Katsura
Comments: This was pretty simple to make. I bought some black opera gloves
from Torrid and hemmed them to stay on my arms. I also picked up a pair of boots from
Torrid for this costume. The dress itself was sewn by Katie and we modified an existing dress pattern.
This will definately get remade to be truer to the original design one day. We learned this
lesson from this costume: shiny slippery fabric is difficult to work with.
Katsucon 8 - 2002Dotta/Daughter of Bakaretsu Hunters/Generic Anime China Gal. ;p

Comments: This year I decided to just buy a short blue mandrin collar dress, and beaded bracelets.
I forget the reason why I opted to buy stuff for the costume rather than made an attempt to make it..
I think we were burnt out from classes or just too busy. Katie cosplayed as Miaka from Fuushigi Yuugi.
I got to meet Maria Kawamura (Slayers' Naga) and Jessica Calvello (Cutey Honey, Dragon Half)!!
I also managed to get a pic with Steve Bennett of Studio Ironcat. ^_^

Otakon 2002
Catgirl & Ironcat Cheerleader Costume with ears and tail as I staffed the con.

Comments: That catsuit had to be made twice because it seemed like it was shrinking as we made it.
I ended up buying a different fabric that wasn't as nice or soft as the original. :/
I got to make the ears and the collar- which was just a modified dog collar with the biggest bell I could buy.
The boots for the suit were easy- white fur, black plastic bear claws and a glue gun. The cheerleader costume
was based from 2 different patterns, a cheerleader one for that pleated skit and a tank top for the skirt
because I disliked the designs for the original cheerleader tops.

Katsucon (9) 2003
Bakery Chii of Chobits
Comments: We were snowed in for an extra day, but aside from that the costume turned out well
and people recognized it even without my ears, which I took off so that I could hear better later on in the evening.
